Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU) recognizes the vital importance that animals fulfill in research. OHSU is bound by federal mandates, namely the Animal Welfare Act and Public Health Service Policy to maintain an oversight committee (IACUC) that reviews and regulates the use of animals for biomedical research and teaching.
As part of quality assurance and a high standard of care, the IACUC follows the guidelines of The Office of Laboratory Animal Welfare (OLAW) and sets its policies according to The Guide for the Care and Use of Laboratory Animals. The OLAW assurance number for OHSU is A33401.
Both the Department of Comparative Medicine (Central and Water Front Campuses) and the Division of Comparative Medicine (West Campus) work closely with the IACUC and have full accreditation from the Association for Assessment and Accreditation of Laboratory Animal Care (AAALAC).
At least semiannually the IACUC evaluates OHSU's animal research program and inspects laboratories where animals are taken and animal facilities and animal research program to assure compliance with federal, state, and local laws.
Please report any information technology issues with eIACUC by clicking on the technical support button below. Protocol content, submission issues, and password resets should be reported to the IACUC Office.
